Deborah Pearson

I am a writer, performer and producer.   Innovation is central to my work, as is an interest in intimacy and narrative. I make and tour solo pieces but also work collaboratively, and frequently work as a dramaturg for companies including Made in China and Action Hero.  In 2007 I founded the multi-award winning organisation Forest Fringe, of which I am a co-director with Ira Brand and Andy Field.  I am also an associate artist with Volcano Productions in Canada.  I am currently  researching a practice-based PhD at Royal Holloway, focussing on the nature of narrative in contemporary performance.

If you like trophies, as an artist I’ve won a Herald Angel and been nominated for the Total Theatre Award for Innovation, an Arches Brick Award, the Dora Mavor Moore Award for best new musical/opera and the Rod Hall Memorial Award for playwriting.  Along with my fellow Forest Fringe co-directors, I am listed at number 88 on the Stage 100 list of influential people in British theatre.
